UCEED 2021: Exam for getting admission to Design Course
To get admission in reputed institute students require the valid scorecard of the UCEED examination.
UCEED stands for the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design. It is an exam for four years of B.Des (Bachelor of Design) program in selected IITs.
Whereas CEED is a joint the entrance exam for post-graduation courses in the field of technological design such as product design, industrial design, visual communication, animation graphics, vehicle design, and mobility, etc. It stands for Common Entrance Examination for Design.

Preparation Strategy for UCEED 2021
Please go through the below steps to make your strategy for UCEED 2021.
1. Go through UCEED 2021: Syllabus and Exam Pattern
Before the beginning of the preparation on examination, we must understand the syllabus and exam pattern.
UCEED exam conducts in two parts.
Part A includes
- Visualization and Spatial Ability,
- Observation and Design Sensitivity,
- Environmental and Social Awareness,
- Analytic and Logical Reasoning,
- Language and Creativity,
- Design thinking and problem-solving.
Part B includes
The question paper consists of two parts. The duration for part A is 2 hours 30 minutes and 30 minutes for part B.
Total marks for Part A is 240 and 60 for part B. therefore, total marks are 300 for a question paper.

18 questions (4 marks each; no negative marks)
Section 2 (ques no. 19-36)
MSQ(Multiple Select Questions)

MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions)
32 questions (3 marks each; 0.71 negative marks)
- The answer in the NAT section will be a number.
- The answer will be entered using a virtual keyboard on the computer screen.
- No choices will be shown for these questions.
- Zero marks will be given for the un-attempted questions.
- The one or more answer(s) will be correct out of four given choices in the MSQ section.
- Only one answer will be correct out of four given choices in the MCQ section.
2. Analyze Yourself
Students usually don’t give time in self-analyzing and start preparation.
It is very important before start preparation because after understand the syllabus and exam pattern you easily analyze the strong and weak topics.
3. Appropriate Time Table
A candidate can attempt UCEED for a maximum 2 times and that too in consecutive years. Therefore Minimum 4-5 hours should be given to the UCEED exam preparation.
The time table’s preparation reduces the student’s stress and helps in managing time on weak topics and make them clear.

Visualization and spatial ability section include the pictorial and diagrammatic questions. These questions examine your ability to relate 2D Shapes and 3D objects with everyday mechanical and scientific concepts. It includes counting the number of surfaces, count the number of triangles, coding, and decoding, etc.
Environmental and Social Awareness section the questions based on the implication of climate, population, water, vegetation, pollution, weather natural resources, etc. on the design of products.
Social awareness involves a cultural connection with the design, history of art, sculpture, and literature.
You should keep yourself familiar with the information on famous designers and iconic product design.
You can use newspapers, magazines, or E-Learning platform to avail of such information.
The observation and design sensitivity section involves the ability to detail analyzing, reasoning, and classify the ordinary things, people, situations, and events with different visual properties and find elegant outcomes.
The good knowledge about basic geometry and solid geometry transformations and manipulations will help you solve such questions.

Preparation Tips for Part B
UCEED is a computer-based exam, therefore, the question in part B is not of drawing, but they are based on the fundamentals of drawing.
Therefore, don’t waste your valuable time on practicing drawing.
The questions are based on the basic concepts and theories of drawing such as perspective, shade, human figure and proportion, shadows and textures, etc.
Practicing more mock tests and previous year questions papers build your confidence.
